About the event
A Historic and Cultural Journey Through the Scottish Borders and Northumberland
St Cuthbert’s Way is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful, varied and enjoyable long-distance walking routes in Britain. Recognised as one of Scotland’s Great Trails, this inspiring 100km (62.5 miles) cross-border path weaves together breathtaking landscapes, deep history, and moments of true spiritual significance.
The route links Melrose in the Scottish Borders—where St. Cuthbert began his religious life in 650AD—to Holy Island (Lindisfarne) on the Northumberland Coast, his resting place and the site of his original pilgrimage shrine. Though shaped by the legacy of St. Cuthbert, this trail offers far more than a traditional pilgrimage. It is a journey rich in culture, heritage, and natural wonder.
